Hi everybody! A very warm welcome to my blog. Rachel aka. The Young Rambler here.  I’m a Londoner at heart, masquerading as a Northerner because that’s where the chips and gravy is, and I’m also a Veterinary Surgeon. I decided to start this blog originally because I wanted to write down all my hiking adventures. Living in the North for so long has made it far easier to access some fantastic hikes. After some positive feedback I then decided I wanted to encourage more people to go walking. It’s a great form of exercise, you get spectacular views and best of all? It’s free!

I don’t profess to be a skilled mountaineer or somebody who really knows their way around an OS map, however over the last few years I have grown to love hiking. The limited number of views I have seen have been pretty spectacular. Some enough to take my breath away – quite literally too as I’m not the fittest! It seems sad to me that there are so many people my age and younger who won’t have experienced the magnificent panoramas that can only be reached by a hard days walking.

The aim of this blog is primarily to encourage more people to don their walking boots and head up the hills to find these views. As previously mentioned, I am no expert in this field! I’m just a normal (debatable) person who has found themselves completely in love with rambling and if my writing about it inspires just one person to begin this journey too then I’ll feel happy.

You will also find that I have now begun to write about my other passions – dressage and travelling. As a self-confessed scatter brain not all of my ambitions quite go to plan, but it makes for some fantastic anecdotes I can’t help but want to share with you all!

If any of this appeals to you then please subscribe to my blog to get great hiking accounts, budget travel tips and an insight into my dressage journey whilst juggling all of the above plus a full time job!

Much love,

The Young Rambler xxx
